During lunch we heard from a graphic designer and a recent Parsons alum. It was interesting to hear the graphic designer talk about how designers think in the industry and to hear the recent alum talk about her design process for a couple specific assignments she did during her time at Parsons.

Computer Lab and a Model
This morning we were in the computer lab and learned about Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator! I had used these programs before but had never really known how to work them, so I was glad to gain some skills on how to edit pictures and how to create a color palette from a picture. That will definitely come in handy when creating a color story for a clothing collection inspired by a specific photograph!
Second Day!
Today my group decided on our location! We found a great old-fashioned fire station on 13th street.
We chose this location because we liked the retro look and the bright colors. By observing this location, we were immediately inspired by the physical fire station, in addition to everything that goes with it-fire, heat, sweat, danger. These are some of the rubbings I did of textures at the location.
And here are my sketches of ideas so farThe artifacts we collected were a rock that looked like concrete with some other colors in it, a dead leaf, and a piece of broken glass. We're thinking about making an accessory and/or part of the garment out of matches.

Beginnings
Today was the first day of class! We looked at some pictures and talked about the different elements of them that stood out to us and made them interesting photographs. I like that we are learning how to have good discussions about art, and it should make our critiques thoughtful and helpful. I am excited to learn a lot of new things in this course, since I have experience in fashion design, but not the other types of design.
We started brainstorming for our first group project today! My group is working well together, and I think we all have skills that will positively contribute to the project. We started looking for locations today, and we didn't decide on a final one yet because we wanted to be open to any interesting places that we experienced up until class tomorrow. We're looking for a place that will be good to photograph, and have interesting elements to draw inspiration from. So far, we have been attracted to old architecture and alley-type places. This staircase was particularly interesting.
It was cool because it has a lot of different angles and places you could shoot from, and it also has a lot of good geometric shapes. These are pictures of a couple other places I found after class that I think could be good.
